Honorable Mention My Visit to Vancouver Don Schaeffer My life sputters east of the Rockies as I sit here in Vancouver where people play in the streets. This is the Pacific, there's a hint of the volcanic in the hills and Potlatch echos. Twelve foot yew hedges with little tunnels cut in them wall the mortgages. Terraced mansions suck on the granite and guard the commerce on the sea. The people are taut with splendor and rich sport, gleefully borrowing and paying back. |
